Storage trends to try in your new home in 2025

Posted on Monday, 20th January 2025

With the new year fully underway, most of us will be looking at ways to give our homes a refresh and we have found five trending storage hacks that are predicted to be big in 2025.

If you find that you are tight on space when trying to replicate these storage ideas in your home, you may want to consider using personal storage to house your belongings.

The five trending storage hacks for 2025

1. Packing parties

Time needed: One-two days

The Packing Party trend is a unique and intense way to declutter your home. It emerged back in 2024 and has grown in popularity ever since. It’s best to allocate yourself a couple of days to complete the packing party trend, which may sound rather time-consuming, but the results will be worthwhile.

The technique involves packing up your entire home’s belongings and only using the essentials within a short period of time. As you are only unpacking what you need, your other belongings may become obsolete. So, you may want to consider donating, selling or storing your items until they are of use again.

 2. Invisible kitchens

Time needed: One day

If your kitchen area is feeling overcrowded and in need of an overhaul in 2025, you may want to try the ‘invisible kitchens’ trend, which is to create a sleek and uncluttered space.

The key to perfecting this trend is simply to start from the very beginning. Start by emptying out each cupboard and get rid of any out-of-date food and donate items you no longer need. Once your cupboards have been decluttered you should have some available space to house your appliances, such as your microwave and toaster. Clearing your countershich will instantly make your space feel less cramped.

3. Intentional clutter

Time needed: One- five hours

This unique storage idea won’t be for everyone, but it’s a great hack for those looking to create a space that feels more ‘lived in’. Time wise, this can take as little or as long as you would like, so start small to begin with and go from there.

Try tackling a corner within your living room. Start by decluttering the area and remove any items that no longer serve a purpose and donate or store them elsewhere. Once your space is clear, it’s time to display your intentional clutter. The trick here is to display key sentimental items such as books, plants and trinkets.

4. Making room for hobbies

Time needed: One-three hours

Almost a fifth (18%) of Brits are planning to take up a new hobby this year, so for those looking for a new pastime, freeing up some space in your home is key. Your new hobby doesn’t need to be contained to a certain room within your home, but wherever you feel the most creative. If you like to move about the home with your hobby, make use of storage baskets and boxes to keep your craft supplies and essentials all in one place.

5. Tucked-away spaces

Time needed: One day

Similarly to the invisible kitchens trend, tucked-away spaces is all about creating a minimal and clean-looking home. Our homes can often feel overrun with everyday items, so creating spaces within the home that are designated for such items will help your space feel less cluttered.

Under bed and stairs are great places to neatly store your items out of sight. Make use of storage boxes and hooks for shoes and coats.
