Since 2023, Andrew Craddock, the founder of Make a Change, has been working from our Hall Green, Birmingham storage facility. They told us more about how their not-for-profit organisation got off the ground with the help of our flexible storage units.
We started as Birmingham Wheelchair basketball back in 2016. However, in 2022 we were asked to deliver inclusion and diversity engagement as part of The Birmingham Commonwealth Games community engagement roadshows 2022.
We delivered over 36 roadshows engaging with over 500,000 people during the games.
It has always been there, but it was just getting off the ground. The CWG 2022 Games enabled us to deliver and continue now as an inclusive sports provider in the community.
We are a not-for-profit organisation that supports vulnerable young people and adults in the community, helping people to achieve their aims, break down barriers to physical activity and reduce isolation, bringing people together.
Whether you have a disability, condition, issue, mental health, you’re in crisis, or just having a bad day, everyone can play a sport or be involved. It is all about adapting the sport to suit their needs.
To continue to deliver programmes and highlight the importance of why playing sport in daily life can support confidence, self-esteem, growth and understanding and awareness; that everyone can play and it can lead to healthy wellbeing in your daily life and society.
I am still learning that this is a part of life and everyone can surprise you and achieve. Some of the amazing people I have met and what they have achieved and continue to achieve just shows you why what we do is valued.
Go for it, don’t let things stop you and you can achieve. Being positive is so important and keeping that in mind supports with help to get where you are going.
