Spent far too long trying to detangle a necklace that managed to knot itself overnight, or earrings that are always missing their matching pair? It might be time to organise your jewellery.
Our team of storage experts have shared their best jewellery storage ideas, so you can keep everything organised, tangle-free and easy to find, whether you’ve got a few core pieces or a collection that’s taken over your entire dressing table.
Having a bigger clear out or in the middle of a move? Our short-term and long-term storage options are here to give you some extra breathing room.

Starting fresh with a curated collection of only the pieces you truly love is the best motivation for getting going with your jewellery storage.
First, tip everything out and lay it in front of you. Then try asking yourself: Have I worn this in the last year? Is it broken? Is it missing its pair? Is it my style anymore? This will help you work out what is ready to be let go. Donate, sell, or recycle the bits you’re getting rid of where you can; that way, someone else might get the chance to love them.
While you’re at it, it’s a good idea to set aside anything that needs to be fixed and give everything else a clean with a soft cloth. You should also pop anything sentimental that you don’t wear very often to the side too; this way, it can have its own special place, and won’t get mixed in with your everyday staples.
We’ve broken our 20 best ways to store jewellery down by area, so you can find the solution that works best for your space, your style and your collection.
Whether you’re more of a minimalist and like your jewellery neatly tucked away, or more of a maximalist and would rather have your jewellery on display, there’s something here for you.
This is the classic go-to, and for a good reason. A jewellery box keeps everything together but in its own place, protected, and easy to find. Look for one with a mix of compartment sizes and a soft lining (velvet and felt are always the best bet). This can live on your dressing table for easy access or be easily tucked away in a cupboard.
If you want your jewellery on display and easy to grab in the morning, a stand or tree is an ideal option. The different bars and heights are great for hanging necklaces and bracelets and keeping them separate. It’s truly the best of both worlds; you get some lovely added decoration, and your jewellery stays tangle-free.
An easy jewellery storage win is just a simple tray with dividers on your dressing table. Use it to display the pieces you reach for most, like your everyday rings, a favourite necklace, or the earrings you wear on rotation. Everything’s visible, everything’s organised, and it takes no time to set up.
Pick one small tray or dish that you can pop on your bedside table or chest of drawers for the pieces you wear every single day. Every night, put them back in the same spot, and that’s it; you’ll never have to go hunting for your favourite earrings before work again.
This one’s small, but genuinely useful. A ring holder by itself or in a little dish gives your rings somewhere to live instead of disappearing into the rest of your jewellery. Having your rings separate will also make sure they can’t get scratched or broken.
If you want something a bit more decorative and a lot neater, a fabric trinket pot with a soft lining and lid is a gorgeous option. It keeps dust and light out and looks a lot nicer than a repurposed mug (though honestly, a repurposed mug works too – we don’t judge).
We all hate tangled necklaces, but there’s a solution. Hanging each chain on its own hook means no knots and no damage, and it looks a bit like your necklaces are hanging in a posh shop. If you pick decorative hooks that match your style, your necklaces basically become part of the decor too.
Hanging organisers with clear pockets are brilliant for jewellery, especially if you’re working with limited space. Hook it over the back of a door, and you’ve got instant storage for necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and more. Everything’s visible and nothing’s squashed together.
If your chest of drawers or other surfaces are getting a little cluttered, a mirror with jewellery hooks built in can save you a bit of space. Now you’ve got a mirror and some neat jewellery storage all rolled into one!
Not everyone wants their jewellery on show – some of us just want it tidy and out of the way. Designating a specific drawer and using soft inserts or dividers can be the perfect solution. If you’re going for this option, a shallow drawer works best because you can see everything at once without having to dig around.
If your collection is growing faster than your drawer space, or you’ve got deeper drawers, stackable clear trays are a gamechanger. You can see everything, stack them to save space, and switch your setup as you go (or when you pick new favourites).
If you’ve got a few different trinket dishes but having them out on the side feels too busy, try popping them in a drawer instead. If you’ve got several, you could even separate your jewellery by colour, style or type for the ultimate organised vibe.
Budget-lovers, this one’s for you. There’s plenty of bits and pieces you’ll already have lying around at home that work brilliantly as drawer jewellery organisers. They might not look as glamorous, but ice cube trays, egg cartons and pill boxes all work surprisingly well for keeping small pieces separated and organised. They’re also a great placeholder whilst you search for a more permanent drawer organiser.
Put your wardrobe shelves to work with stackable jewellery storage containers. Keep your most-worn pieces on the top so they’re easy to reach, and less frequently worn items lower down. It keeps everything together and stops your wardrobe shelf from becoming a dumping ground.
This one sounds a bit over the top, but it’s great for making use of those awkward corner spaces. Stick a lazy Susan on a shelf, load it with small trays and ring holders, and then you can spin it around to grab whatever you need.
Make the most of the dead space inside your wardrobe. If you’ve got a smaller earring collection, you could hang some spare ribbon on the inside of the door to attach your earrings to. For a slightly larger collection, you could add a corkboard or some framed mesh or embroidery fabric to hang dangly earrings and studs. This way, your earrings stay in pairs, with their backs attached, and your wardrobe looks a little prettier.
Really precious jewellery pieces deserve something as special as they are. A velvet-lined box will keep delicate pieces and heirlooms protected and gives them the care they deserve. It’s also a lovely way to store pieces you want to pass on someday.
If you’ve still got the box or pouch something came in, definitely hang on to it – especially for special occasion pieces. They’re designed to keep what’s inside safe, and they’re a tidy way to store things long-term without spending any extra money.
If you own anything that’s really valuable, either cost-wise or memory-wise, it’s worth thinking about a fireproof safe that’s bolted in. Even though it might feel like overkill, you’ll be grateful it’s there when you actually need it.
A jewellery bust is a really unique way to display your most special necklaces at home with no tangles. They look stylish, and you can play around to find something that fits your exact style, from a floral fabric bust to a Greek-style stone statue.
Now you’ve hopefully got more than enough ideas to get you started on how to store your jewellery collection; we’ll share a few of our expert tips for keeping your jewellery in top nick for as long as possible:
Sometimes the issue isn’t how you’re storing your jewellery, it’s that there’s just not enough room at home. Our personal storage facilities are temperature-monitored, humidity-controlled and secured with unique PIN-code access, so you know your pieces are safe and secure until you’re ready for them.

Hanging is almost always the better option. If necklaces are laid flat, they’ll get tangled or scratched more easily. That being said, if you’ve got a necklace with a very delicate chain or a heavy pendant, laying it flat in its own compartment or pouch will prevent any breakages.
It’s best to avoid chucking your necklaces, earrings and rings in your wash bag because you’ll most likely end up with a knotted mess. A small travel jewellery case keeps everything separate and neat, and individual zip or fabric pouches will stop your jewellery from getting scratched or tangled. If you’re worried about travelling with more valuable or sentimental pieces, wearing them whilst travelling will avoid them getting lost with luggage.
